The Military Personnel Subcommittee of the House Armed Services Committee (HASC) has tentatively scheduled a military resale and morale, welfare and recreation (MWR) overview hearing for Tuesday, Oct. 5, at 2:00 p.m. Originally penciled in on the subcommittee's schedule last spring, the hearing was cancelled in the press of other business.

Two panels are expected: Panel One — Under Secretary of Defense (Personnel and Readiness), military resale agency commanders and service MWR chiefs. Panel Two — the American Logistics Association (ALA) and the Armed Forces Marketing Council (AFMC).

The autumn timing of the resale/MWR hearing, usually a part of the legislative process leading to passage of the Defense authorization bill, calls attention to two factors: fiscal year 2011 will have already begun, and midterm elections will be only a month away.
